Commemorative Crosswalk - Ribbon Cutting September 24th.
Rossburn Municipality Unveils Commemorative Crosswalk for the Royal Canadian Legion's 100th Anniversary!
To recognize the 100th year of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Municipality recently painted a commemorative crosswalk in honour of Canada's Veterans and those who have served our country. The image shown here features our original design, which included poppies along the crosswalk as a symbol of remembrance. Since completing the project, it has been brought to our attention that the Remembrance Poppy should not be placed in a location where it may be walked on. The Royal Canadian Legion advises that the Poppy not be used on crosswalks or other surfaces where the symbol of remembrance can be trod upon. Therefore, we have modified the design and have replaced the poppies with maple leaves.
We are proud of the original concept and wanted to share this photo:

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning for the ceremonial ribbon-cutting. We extend our sincere appreciation to the members of the Public, Rossburn Legion members, and Military Veterans who attended and helped make this event so meaningful.
We would also like to thank Municipal Council, Staff and Volunteers for their support in bringing this project to life. A special thank you goes to the RCI students and Darlene Slon for their creativity to update our crosswalk design.
We hope this crosswalk serves as a lasting tribute and a meaningful reminder of the sacrifices and service of Canada's veterans and military members.
Community projects like this are only possible through the contributions of many individuals working together. Thank you all for helping make today's ribbon cutting ceremony a memorable and respectful occasion.
Lest We Forget.
